Suno v6 vs Canva AI Lyrics Generator: A Song File Is Not a Music Video
Suno v6 is three song desks (v6, wild, mini), not a music video. Lock the lyric, then generate an 8-second clip.
Suno v6 vs Canva AI Lyrics Generator: A Song File Is Not a Music Video
A v6 song is a song desk. It is not a video. On 9 September 2026, Suno CEO Mikey Shulman published Introducing v6: three music models built with industry partners including Warner Music Group, BMG, and Believe. The post is about vocals, sections, mashups, and lyric edits. It does not ship a timeline, a pack shot, or an 8-second ad. ClipCanva is not affiliated with Suno, Canva, Warner, BMG, Believe, or OpenAI. Lock the line on the AI lyrics generator or the AI script generator, then generate motion on the AI video generator or image to video. Do not paste an unfinished chorus into a clip box and call it a release.
Launch facts (confirmed 23 September 2026)
| Source | Public claim | Workflow implication |
|---|---|---|
| Suno: Introducing v6 (9 Sep 2026, Mikey Shulman) | A new generation of music models “developed with our industry partners, including Warner Music Group, BMG and Believe.” Faster, more expressive, more control. | Partner names are a training/product story. They are not a stamp on your YouTube upload. Legal still signs the lyric. |
| Same Suno post | Three named models. v6: flagship for Pro and Premier; “reliable, precise,” polished across genres. v6-wild: Pro and Premier; “less predictable and more varied.” v6-mini: “available to everyone,” faster and more efficient. | Mini is the draft desk. Wild is the explore desk. Flagship v6 is the keep desk. Do not mix them in one credit burn. |
| Same Suno post | New controls: edit one section in plain language; mashup from multiple sources; sample/isolate a riff and build a beat; start from a vibe; create from text, audio, images and video; change a single lyric without rebuilding the song. | Those are audio edits. “Make a song based on this image” is not image-to-video. |
| Same Suno post | Safeguards “screen uploaded audio files and lyrics for unauthorized use.” As v6 rolls out, Suno “will retire our previous models and move Suno entirely onto the v6 generation.” | Old model IDs are a sunset. Export keepers before a generation you still need disappears from the picker. |
| Same Suno post | “What comes next” is opt-in artist experiences “we’re developing,” where artists can choose to participate and get paid. | That product is not claimed as live. Do not brief a client that the fan-remix program is on. |
| Canva: AI Song Lyric Generator | Magic Write lyric generator, described as powered by OpenAI. Prompt in 200 words or less. Output: hooks, verses, choruses. Edit, then share as a Canva Doc or turn into a design. | Canva’s lyric tool is a Doc desk. A Doc is not a clip. |
| Canva Help: Magic Video | Magic Video: 60-second videos from clips or photos, templates and music applied automatically. Create a Video Clip: 8-second clips with sound from a text prompt. Uploaded videos for Magic Video must be under 10 minutes. Canva AI may pick Magic Video or Video Clip from your input. | 60 seconds of assembly ≠ 8 seconds of generation. Split the job before you hit Enter. |
| Canva Help: Create a video clip | Canva AI 1.0 “Create a video clip” help page is live as of this writing. | Confirm the live duration, language, and wait time in Help before you quote a client. Do not invent a longer clip. |
Suno did not publish prices, clip lengths, or a “v6 to Reels” button in that post. Do not invent them.
What a song desk is — and what a clip desk is not
| Surface | What is actually on the public record | What operators often assume | Fail condition |
|---|---|---|---|
| Suno v6 (flagship) | Polished full songs for paid tiers | A music-video generator | Shipping the player preview as the ad |
| v6-wild | Exploration; bring the idea back into v6 | The final master | Posting the weird take because it “felt licensed” |
| v6-mini | Free/everyone draft, faster | Production audio | Building a campaign on a throwaway pass |
| Section / one-line lyric edit | Change the chorus or one word, keep the rest | A storyboard | Leaving the on-screen title on the old lyric |
| Image/video → song | Suno turns a still or clip into music | Image-to-video | Animating the same still in the same box |
| Canva Magic Write lyrics | Prompt → verses/hooks in a Doc | A finished track | Karaoke-ing a Doc over a stock bed |
| Canva Video clip | ~8s generated clip with sound | A place to dump the whole song | One paragraph, one generate, unreadable type |
| Canva Magic Video | 60s assembly from footage you already have | Native text-to-video | Uploading a 12-minute live session |
| Generate desk | Named model, locked still, finished file | The song model invents the pack shot | Spending first, writing the claim later |
Suno’s own examples are mix notes (“change the chorus,” “change ‘love’ to ‘light’”). They are not shot lists.
Pick the desk before you generate the hook
The fail is treating “v6 is the licensed model” as “legal signed the Short.” Suno says v6 was developed with named partners. That sentence lives in a company blog. It does not replace a lyric lock, a claim lock, or a first frame.
| Job | Where it actually runs | What you must supply | What the system may invent | Fail condition |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Words people will read or sing | AI lyrics generator | Theme, forbidden claims, duration of the video not the song | Extra verses, unearned superlatives, brand-adjacent rhymes | Prompting video from a chorus you never signed |
| Spoken VO / CTA | AI script generator | One claim, one proof, one ask | A second scene | Using the full Suno lyric as the 8-second VO |
| Still that must stay on-model | Stills desk, then image to video | Approved pack shot or title card | Camera path, warped type | Animating a screenshot of the Suno player |
| Motion | AI video generator or AI music video | Locked still + one beat of lyric | A new product, a new logo | One 3-minute song dumped into one generate |
| Model pick | Compare | The same still, two motion models | A “best model” from a blog list | Switching models after the lyric already drifted |
If the deliverable is a file with a picture, you are not done when the Suno player sounds good.
Creator / operator checklist
- Write the on-screen line. Eight seconds will not hold a verse-chorus-verse. One hook plus a CTA. Sung line on the AI lyrics generator; spoken ads on the AI script generator.
- Strike anything you cannot defend. Ingredient claims, “#1,” celebrity names, other catalogs. Suno screens uploads and lyrics for unauthorized use. That is not a legal opinion on your copy.
- Pick the Suno row on purpose. Mini to hear the idea. Wild only for a left turn. Flagship v6 when the lyric is locked. Do not wild-roll a paid SKU.
- Export keepers. Previous models are being retired. If a campaign still lives only in an old picker, pull the file now.
- Lock a still, then image to video. Do not generate motion from a lyric Doc.
- Time the picture to one beat. Canva’s documented generated clip is 8 seconds with sound. Magic Video’s documented assembly is 60 seconds from footage you already have. More than one beat means more than one card.
- Listen back against the signed lyric. If v6 changed “light” back to “love,” fix the line, then regenerate.
- Do not brief “licensed like Warner.” Partner development is Suno’s sentence. Upload policy is the platform’s. Keep them apart.
Worked example: a Friday restock hook, not a three-minute single
Say the job is an 8-second restock Short with a sung hook.
Do not: open v6-wild, prompt “upbeat song about our vitamin C serum, make it sound expensive,” then drop the whole file on a Canva Video clip prompt.
Do:
- Lock one sung line and one spoken CTA. Example shape, not a magic prompt: Same bottle. Same seal. Restock Friday. CTA: Tap the two-pack.
- Put the sung line through the AI lyrics generator. Cut until it fits the clip, not the other way around. If Canva Magic Write is your scratch pad, stay inside its 200-word prompt cap and treat the Doc as a draft.
- Generate audio last, on v6 once the words are frozen. Use mini only to hear whether the melody works. Do not keep the mini take.
- Generate motion from the approved bottle still on image to video. If you need a different motion model for the same still, use Compare.
- Lay the 8-second picture on the hook, not on verse two. If Magic Video is the exit, you are assembling footage you already have into 60 seconds — you still needed the clip first.
That is the whole product. v6 made the song. It did not make the Short.
FAQ
Does Suno v6 generate music videos? No. The 9 September post describes music models and audio edits, including starting from an image or video to make a song. Picture-to-clip still belongs on a generate desk such as the AI video generator or AI music video.
v6, v6-wild, or v6-mini? Suno’s split: v6 for precise, polished songs on Pro/Premier; v6-wild for unexpected texture you may bring back into v6; v6-mini for everyone, faster drafts. For a product ad, draft on mini, keep on v6. Wild is a mood board, not a master.
If v6 was built with Warner, BMG, and Believe, can I ship the track to ads? Not from that sentence alone. Suno named partners in a launch blog. It did not publish your campaign’s license, territory, or platform rules in that post. Treat partner names as context, then run your own clearance. ClipCanva is not a rights desk.
Canva lyric generator or a dedicated lyrics desk? Canva’s AI Song Lyric Generator is Magic Write in a Doc: short prompt, verses and hooks, then a design. Scratch pad, not a lock. The line you will sing or show still needs a lyrics/script desk, then a separate clip desk.
Suno is retiring old models. Do I regenerate everything? Export keepers first. A picker sunset is not a reason to re-roll a signed lyric. If you must rebuild, freeze the words, then generate on v6 — do not wander through wild on the way.
A better-sounding model is a gift only if you never needed a picture. Suno v6 is a song desk. Canva’s lyric generator is a Doc desk. Neither is a generate button. Do not pretend they are.
