Kling 4.0 Is Live. Omni Reference Is Not a Signed Script
Kuaishou says Kling 4.0 launched 15 October 2026. Fifteen references and a Canvas agent still do not replace a locked line, a first frame, and an 8-second crop.
Kling 4.0 Is Live. Omni Reference Is Not a Signed Script
Kuaishou said on 16 October 2026 that Kling 4.0, Kling AI’s next-generation video model, officially launched on 15 October. The investor release lists three shipped bets: steadier large-scale motion, native generation of up to 30 seconds in a single pass, and Omni Reference with combinations of up to 15 reference assets and up to 10 keyframe inputs. Kling’s own GlobeNewswire post the same day says the model is fully available on the Kling AI website, with API access still coming. ClipCanva is not affiliated with Kling, Kuaishou, VEED, Kapwing, Runway, or Adobe. Fifteen references are a continuity desk. A Canvas agent that “writes scripts” is still a generator sitting next to the renderer. Lock the spoken line on the AI script generator. Steal shot language from prompt ideas. Lock the pack shot, then animate it on image to video or generate the scene on the AI video generator. Do not brief “4.0 is live, so the commercial writes itself.”
Launch facts (confirmed 17 October 2026)
| Source | Public claim | Workflow implication |
|---|---|---|
| Kuaishou IR: Kling 4.0 official launch (16 Oct 2026, dateline Hong Kong) | “Kling 4.0 … officially launched on October 15.” Priorities: realism, control, professional quality. Native single-pass generation up to 30 seconds. Omni Reference: up to 15 references and 10 keyframes. Prompt length “now reaches 8,000 tokens.” MCP and CLI can call Omni Reference and keyframe-to-video. API access “will soon be made available.” | Launch day is 15 October, not “sometime in October.” API is not the same announcement. |
| Same IR note | Omni Reference mix in one task: images, videos, subjects, and voices, “up to a total of 15 references, including up to 10 images, 5 videos and 7 subjects.” Image types named: subject images, three-view character sheets, grid images, storyboards, wireframes. Video refs can include white-model and depth-map video. “The video extension feature will soon support multiple extensions of up to two minutes.” | Fifteen is a cap on inputs, not a signed storyboard. Two minutes is flagged soon on this page. |
| Same IR note | Camera language named: push-ins, pull-outs, pans, trucking shots, tracking shots, orbit shots. “Supports output of up to 10-bit HDR.” “Will also support 4K, 1080p and the 21:9 ultrawide format.” | HDR is claimed on the IR page. Resolution and 21:9 are will also support. Do not file a 10-bit 4K ultrawide master from this paragraph alone. |
| Kling AI GlobeNewswire (16 Oct 2026, dateline Beijing) | “Fully available now on the Kling AI website.” “Will also be made available soon … through API access.” “Will soon support 10-bit HDR output at both 4K and 1080p, as well as a 21:9 ultrawide format.” Native 30-second generation. “Upload an existing video and extend it up to two minutes.” Languages named include English, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, Hindi, plus several English accents. Adobe Firefly quote: Kling 4.0 and Kling 4.0 Flash “coming soon to Firefly.” | Website ≠ API ≠ Firefly. HDR/21:9 are soon on this page, which disagrees with the IR’s present-tense HDR sentence. Treat HDR, 21:9, and Firefly as not officially confirmed as shipping on 15 October. |
| kling.ai (fetched 17 Oct 2026) | Homepage hero: “All-New Kling 4.0” / “You call the shots.” Body: “Stable Dynamic Motions and an immersive audio-visual experience, taking video generation to professional-grade production.” Canvas: “Brainstorm with your Agent, write scripts, and generate images, videos, and storyboards.” MCP / CLI: “Efficient Batch Generation.” | A live hero is not a Legal sign-off. Canvas puts script and render on one marketing page. That is a product promise, not your approval chain. |
| TechNode, 16 Oct 2026 | References vs keyframes: refs help the model “understand how a video should look and feel”; keyframes “define how a story should unfold.” A Kling spokesperson: visual fidelity is becoming baseline; next priorities are control and “a better understanding of scripts and storyboards.” Longer video is not automatically a complete story. | Control is a desk. It does not write the line Legal signed. |
| VEED AI Video Script Generator | Own URL. Nav still lists AI Video Generator, Image to Video, and AI Script Generator as separate items. | Writer and renderer stay different URLs. |
| Kapwing AI Video Script Generator | Own URL. Nav still lists Script Generator next to Video Generator. | Same split. Do not merge them because Kling Canvas did. |
Kuaishou’s IR page is the launch-date source. Kling’s GlobeNewswire page is the “on the website now / API later” source. Where those two posts disagree (HDR now vs HDR soon; two-minute extension soon vs described as available), write the disagreement. Do not pick the sentence that makes the Friday drop easier.
What 15 October shipped — and what it did not
Operators will collapse four objects into “Kling 4.0 launched, dump the brand kit, ship the 30-second hero.” The public pages refuse that.
| Surface | What the public page says it does | What it does not do | Fail condition |
|---|---|---|---|
| 15 October launch (Kuaishou IR) | Put Kling 4.0 on the calendar as launched | Sign the VO; pick the first frame; grant Firefly or API access | Treating “officially launched” as “the cut is approved” |
| Omni Reference (up to 15) | Mix images, videos, subjects, voices in one task | Invent the legal line; keep a SKU unwarped unless that still is frame one | Uploading a moodboard and calling it the pack shot |
| Up to 10 keyframes | Mark visual beats, character states, scene changes | Replace a shot list you can read in Slack | Ten stills with no spoken sentence |
| Native 30-second pass | One generation long enough for a long take | Fit an 8-second Short crop; write the end card | Briefing “we have 30 seconds now” and skipping the 8-second card |
| Canvas Agent on kling.ai | Brainstorm, write scripts, generate images/videos/storyboards in one studio | Store Legal’s signed sentence; isolate writer from renderer | Pasting the agent script into generate because the homepage said “write scripts” |
| MCP / CLI | Batch Omni Reference and keyframe-to-video through an agent | Decide which take is on-model | Automating 40 versions before the line is locked |
| API / Firefly / 10-bit HDR / 21:9 / 2-minute extend | Flagged soon on at least one official post | A delivery format you can file today from this launch | Promising a client HDR ultrawide or a two-minute master from the 15 October sentence |
TechNode’s useful split is the one to keep: references are look-and-feel; keyframes are story beats. Neither object is a script. Kling’s own spokesperson, quoted there, still puts “scripts and storyboards” in the next priority list — which is an admission that 4.0 is a control model, not a copy desk.
Pick the desk before you fill 15 slots
The fail is treating Omni Reference as “the brief is in the zip.” Map the job.
| Job | Where it actually runs | What you must supply | What the system may invent | Fail condition |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Line a viewer will hear or read | AI script generator | Audience, seconds, the signed sentence | A second CTA, a ranking claim, a feature Legal struck | Letting Kling Canvas “write scripts” because the homepage says it can |
| Shot language | Prompt ideas | Four beats, not an 8,000-token novel | A fifth scene, a second SKU | Dumping the IR camera list (orbit, truck, pan) into one prompt |
| Still that must stay on-model | Approved still, then image to video | Pack shot as frame one | Warped type, a second flavor, a face that is not the talent | Using a “creative recreation” ref video as if it preserves your label |
| Motion from a locked still or a prompted scene | AI video generator, or a named row on Compare | Locked still and/or locked caption, crop, seconds | Extra chrome, mouthed words you did not approve | Generating B-roll first, writing the line never |
| Current Kling row on ClipCanva | Kling 3.0 Turbo model guide | Whatever the live selector actually offers | A 4.0 badge | Assuming ClipCanva shipped Kling 4.0 because kling.ai did |
| Continuity stack (only after the line and still are locked) | Kling 4.0 Omni Reference / keyframes on Kling’s site, if that is your renderer | The same signed stills and beats, counted | A character sheet the model prefers to your pack | Filling 15 slots to feel professional |
VEED still sells Script Generator at /tools/script-generator next to a separate video generator. Kapwing still sells Script Generator at /ai/script-generator next to Video Generator. Kling’s Canvas block on 17 October puts “write scripts” and “generate … videos” in one paragraph. That is a marketing merge. Your approval chain should look like VEED and Kapwing’s URL split, not like a single Agent node.
ClipCanva’s live Kling guide is still Kling 3.0 Turbo. The image to video page tells you to check the current selector. A launch on kling.ai is not a model ID on clipcanva.com.
Creator / operator checklist
- Read the 15 October sentence out loud. Officially launched. Native 30 seconds. Omni Reference. Ten keyframes. If Slack says “HDR 4K ultrawide two-minute API Firefly,” stop and split the sentence. At least one official post still says HDR, 21:9, API, Firefly, or two-minute extend is soon.
- Name the surface. kling.ai hero ≠ Kuaishou IR ≠ GlobeNewswire ≠ Adobe Firefly ≠ ClipCanva selector ≠ MCP batch. Screenshot the picker you will actually use.
- Cap the line before you fill reference slots. Use the AI script generator. One sentence. Strike unreleased features, competitor names, and any claim Finance did not sign. An 8,000-token prompt will not know which four words Legal locked.
- Lock frame one if the SKU must hold. Approved still, then image to video. Subject images, three-view sheets, and “creative recreation” refs are not the pack shot unless they are the pack shot.
- Write four beats, then decide whether you even need ten keyframes. Steal language from prompt ideas. For an 8-second Short you need four cards, not ten. TechNode: keyframes unfold the story; they do not invent it.
- Count Omni Reference like a budget, not like a moodboard. IR’s mix is up to 10 images, 5 videos, 7 subjects, inside a total of 15. Empty slots are fine. Fifteen mediocre refs are worse than three signed ones.
- Do not treat Canvas Agent as the writer of record. kling.ai says the Agent can write scripts and generate video in one studio. VEED and Kapwing still keep those jobs on different URLs. So should you.
- Do not batch in MCP/CLI until the card is signed. IR says 4.0 Omni Reference and keyframe-to-video are now callable from agents. That is a multiplier for unsigned copy.
- Do not promise Firefly, API, 10-bit HDR, 21:9, or a two-minute master from this launch. Quote the soon lines. If a client needs a format Kling has not confirmed as shipping, do not sell it.
- Compare the renderer after the brief exists. Use Compare and generate on the AI video generator. A 30-second native pass is a length option. It is not the brief.
Worked example: a Friday Short that does not start in Omni Reference
Say the job is an 8-second product Short. Legal line approved: Two-pack is back Friday. Same recipe. No new flavor. Someone opened kling.ai, saw “You call the shots,” saw Canvas “write scripts,” saw “15 reference assets,” and told the channel “dump the brand zip into 4.0, we have 30 seconds now.”
That sentence mixes four desks.
The line is a writer object. Put the approved sentence on the AI script generator. Kling Canvas will draft. It will not store that Legal signed this sentence and struck the mango variant.
The still is a first-frame object. If the label must stay readable, the pack shot is frame one on image to video. A three-view character sheet and a depth-map dance ref will not protect the nutrition panel.
The beat list is a card object. Steal shot language from prompt ideas, then write four lines:
- 0s — locked product still, no extra SKU
- 3s — one motion: pack rotates or the camera pushes; type stays readable
- 6s — end card with the signed sentence only
- 8s — stop. No second CTA, no orbit shot because the IR named orbit shots
The 30-second native pass is a length object. If you generate 30 seconds, you still cut to eight. You do not owe the model a long take because the launch post is proud of long takes. If you later need continuity across characters, then Omni Reference is the continuity desk — with the same locked stills, not a new moodboard.
If the live ClipCanva selector is still Kling 3.0, say so. Generate on the AI video generator or the Kling 3.0 Turbo guide’s current path. Do not invent a 4.0 row on a site that has not listed one.
FAQ
Did Kling 4.0 actually launch, or is it still early access? Kuaishou’s 16 October IR post says Kling 4.0 officially launched on 15 October. Kling’s GlobeNewswire post the same day says it is fully available on the Kling AI website. kling.ai’s homepage on 17 October leads with “All-New Kling 4.0.” API access is still described as coming soon.
Is Omni Reference a replacement for a script? No. The IR page describes up to 15 reference assets and 10 keyframes so characters, actions, shots, and audio stay closer to the intended result. TechNode, quoting a Kling spokesperson, still treats scripts and storyboards as a control problem the industry is moving toward — not as a file Omni Reference emits.
Can I ship 10-bit HDR 4K 21:9 from this launch? Not from these pages alone. Kuaishou IR says 4.0 “supports output of up to 10-bit HDR” and “will also support 4K, 1080p and the 21:9 ultrawide format.” Kling’s GlobeNewswire post says 10-bit HDR at 4K and 1080p, plus 21:9, “will soon” be supported. Until Kling’s own product UI confirms the format on the take you generated, do not promise it.
Is the two-minute extend live? Treat it as unsettled. The IR page says video extension “will soon support multiple extensions of up to two minutes.” Kling’s GlobeNewswire post describes uploading an existing video and extending it up to two minutes. Native generation in both posts is 30 seconds. Do not call two minutes the native pass.
Does Kling 4.0 on kling.ai mean ClipCanva has Kling 4.0? No. ClipCanva’s public Kling model guide on 17 October is still Kling 3.0 Turbo. Check the live selector on image to video or the AI video generator. A competitor launch is not your model dropdown.
Should I write the script inside Kling Canvas because the homepage says the Agent can? Not if anyone has to sign the line. VEED and Kapwing still keep script generators on their own URLs, separate from video generators. Write on the AI script generator, then render. Canvas is a studio pitch, not an approval log.
