Ideogram 4.5 in Runway MCP. A Still Is Not a Clip

Ideogram 4.5 in Runway MCP is an image desk, not a clip. Lock the still, then image-to-video. Runway’s 2 Oct changelog does not turn a PNG into Friday’s restock.

Ideogram 4.5 in Runway MCP. A Still Is Not a Clip

Ideogram 4.5 inside Runway MCP is an image desk. It is not a generate button for Friday’s restock cut. On 2 October 2026, Runway’s changelog listed Ideogram 4.5 under Paid Plans: “Ideogram 4.5 is now supported in Runway MCP, bringing its image generation capabilities directly into your MCP workflows.” That sentence names image generation. It does not name duration, audio, or a clip. The same day’s All Plans line is a different object: Seedance 2.5 Draft Mode in Agent, fast 480p drafts with post-generation enhancement. ClipCanva is not affiliated with Runway, Ideogram, VEED, or Kapwing. Lock the spoken line on the AI script generator. Steal shot language from prompt ideas. Lock the pack shot, then animate it on image to video or generate picture on the AI video generator. Do not brief “Ideogram 4.5 in MCP” and call the PNG take one.

Launch and product facts (confirmed 5 October 2026)

Source Public claim Workflow implication
Runway changelog (2 Oct 2026, Paid Plans) Ideogram 4.5 is now supported in Runway MCP. It brings image generation into MCP workflows. This is a stills desk hosted in MCP. A still is not a clip.
Same changelog (13 Aug 2026, Paid Plans) Ideogram 4.0 in Runway MCP as ideogram-4, for text-to-image or remixing from a single reference. Accurate, readable text in designs. Ultra-tall 9:21 and ultra-wide 21:9. The last Runway-specified Ideogram MCP feature set is still + type + one reference. 4.5’s changelog line does not replace that with video.
Same changelog (2 Oct 2026, All Plans) Seedance 2.5 Draft Mode in Agent. Fast 480p drafts with post-generation enhancement. Draft mode is automatically suggested and easy to toggle. Same calendar day, different desk. A cheap 480p generate is still a generate.
Runway for ChatGPT FAQ “Can ChatGPT generate video? Not on its own. ChatGPT writes text and generates still images, and OpenAI discontinued Sora in 2026, so there’s no built-in way to make video in a chat.” Named video models once connected: Gen-4.5, Seedance 2.5, Kling 3.0, Veo 3.1. Official: chat stills ≠ video. The FAQ’s named video list does not include Ideogram.
Same FAQ “Which models can agents use?” Seedance 2.5, Kling, Gen-4.5, Veo, GPT Image 2, Nano Banana Pro “and more,” based on the Runway plan. MCP spends Runway credits. An image model in the agent catalog is a stills spend. Credits are not a duration slider.
VEED AI Script Generator Own tool. Scripts for social, explainers, marketing. Separate AI Video Generator for text, scripts, or images. Public model names on the generate page include Veo 3.1, PixVerse, Hailuo AI, and Kling. Writer URL stays separate from renderer.
Kapwing AI Script Generator Own AI nav item: hooks, talking points, narration, ads, explainers, podcasts. Kapwing still splits script and video.
Kapwing AI Video Generator Start with prompt, image, script, article, or PDF. Kai plans the generation. Public model names include Seedance 2.0/2.5, Veo 3, MiniMax H3, Happy Horse, Kling, Grok Imagine. Kai can storyboard. Kai does not sign the claim or lock the still.

Runway’s 2 October Ideogram line is shorter than the 13 August Ideogram 4.0 line. Do not import press claims about local edits, native 2K, or open weights into Friday’s brief. Those details are not on the Runway changelog. If a capability is not on that page, it is not a brief.

What Ideogram in MCP is — and what it is not

Operators will collapse four objects into “MCP can Ideogram now, the restock is covered.” The public pages refuse that.

Surface What the public page says it does What it does not do Fail condition
Ideogram 4.5 in Runway MCP (2 Oct 2026) Image generation inside MCP workflows Ship a clip, pick duration, write the legal line @agent make the restock cinematic aimed at Ideogram
Ideogram 4.0 in Runway MCP (ideogram-4, 13 Aug 2026) Text-to-image or remix from one reference; readable type; 9:21 / 21:9 Multi-reference character sheets; video; audio Feeding three pack shots and expecting a locked hero
ChatGPT with no Runway plugin Write text; generate stills Make video. Runway’s FAQ: no built-in video after Sora Pasting “animate this Ideogram still” into plain chat
Seedance 2.5 Draft Mode in Agent Fast 480p drafts, then enhance Replace a locked still or a signed caption Treating Draft as the master because it was “automatically suggested”
VEED / Kapwing script tools Draft hooks and CTAs on their script URLs Render the scene Hitting generate on the unsigned draft
ClipCanva still → image-to-video Lock the frame, then animate one scene Pretend an MCP image model is a duration slider Skipping the still because “MCP has Ideogram now”

If you are generating a PNG, you are on a stills desk. If a video model is rendering pixels, you are on a generate desk. If the file still needs a legal sentence, you are on a writer. If you cannot tell which, do not spend the credits.

Pick the desk before you name Ideogram 4.5

The fail is treating “Ideogram 4.5 shipped in MCP on 2 October” as “Friday is covered.” Map the job.

Job Where it actually runs What you must supply What the system may invent Fail condition
Readable type on a pack label Ideogram in Runway MCP, if your paid plan actually includes it The signed words, crop, whether you remix one reference Extra badges, a second claim Asking the agent for “the whole commercial, keep the type”
One claim the clip must carry AI script generator — or VEED / Kapwing if that is already your writer Audience, seconds, the signed sentence A second CTA Briefing Ideogram with the slogan and no card
Recap of a long recording AI video summarizer Source cut, claims to keep, claims to strike Compression that changes meaning Dumping the webinar into MCP because the host “does images and video”
Still that must stay on-model Stills desk, then image to video Approved pack shot as frame one Camera path, warped type Remixing from a screenshot of the Amazon tile
Motion from a locked still AI video generator or a named model on Compare Locked still and/or locked caption, crop, seconds Extra props, a second spoken line Hoping Ideogram 4.5 grew video because it lives next to Seedance in MCP

If the brief is “try Ideogram 4.5 in MCP,” that is R&D. If the brief is “the two-pack restocks Friday,” that is script, still, then picture. If the brief is “the agent will handle it,” you do not have a brief.

VEED still keeps AI Video Script Generator as its own nav item. Kapwing still keeps Script Generator and AI Video Generator as different URLs. Runway still split Ideogram 4.5 (Paid Plans, image) and Seedance 2.5 Draft Mode (All Plans, 480p video) on the same changelog day. None of those pages say a still is a clip.

Creator / operator checklist

  1. Read the 2 October line out loud. “Image generation capabilities directly into your MCP workflows.” If the next sentence in Slack is “so we can ship the ad,” stop.
  2. Check the plan. Changelog tags Ideogram 4.5 as Paid Plans. Draft Mode is All Plans. Do not brief a free seat as if it has the image model.
  3. Do not upgrade 4.0 features by rumor. Runway’s last detailed Ideogram MCP note is 13 August: text-to-image or one reference, readable type, 9:21 / 21:9. 4.5 is “now supported.” It is not a published video spec.
  4. Keep ChatGPT honest. Runway’s FAQ still says ChatGPT cannot generate video on its own. A still from chat is a still. @Runway is a plugin generate, on Runway credits, on named video models that the FAQ lists without Ideogram.
  5. Write the one line the clip must carry. Use the AI script generator. Strike “#1,” ingredient claims, and competitor names you cannot defend. Readable type in an image model will print whatever you typed, including the lie.
  6. Lock the still before anyone opens a video catalog. If the bottle was shot, you are in image to video from that frame. If you must generate the hero, generate one still, approve it, then animate. Do not remix three SKUs into one “hero.”
  7. Keep a scene card. Steal shot language from prompt ideas, then generate one scene. Do not dump a paragraph into VEED generate or Kapwing Video Generator because the page mentioned ads.
  8. Name the video model separately. Compare video models on Compare. If a duration or resolution is not on that vendor page, it is not a brief.
  9. Treat Draft Mode as a cheap generate pass. Same-day Seedance 480p drafts are for iteration. They are not the signed caption and not the locked still.
  10. Bill the right credit. MCP spends Runway credits. An Ideogram still and a Seedance draft are two line items. Do not hide both under “we tried the new MCP model.”

Worked example: a Friday restock that does not start in Ideogram

Say the job is a restock cutdown. The two-pack ships Friday. Legal line approved: Same bottle. Same seal. Restock Friday. The hero still exists. Someone saw Runway’s 2 October changelog, noticed Ideogram 4.5 in MCP, noticed Draft Mode in the next block, and told the channel “MCP can do the still and the 480p, we’re covered.”

That sentence mixes three desks.

The label type is a stills object. If you need a 9:16 end card with readable words, Ideogram in MCP can try — on a paid plan, with the signed words, from one reference if you remix. Approve the PNG. Do not ask it for the pour.

The spoken line is a writer object. Put the approved sentence on the AI script generator. Eight seconds. No second CTA. If you already live in VEED or Kapwing, their script tools are still script tools. Copy the signed line. Do not hit generate from the unsigned draft.

The pack shot is a still object. Animate it on image to video from that frame. One push-in. No extra bottle. No invented badge.

The renderer is a generate object. If you need a named video model, pick it on Compare or on Kapwing’s generate page. Ideogram 4.5 is not in Runway’s ChatGPT FAQ video list. Runway did not put it there.

If the team still wants to “try 4.5,” timebox it as R&D: can MCP print Restock Friday on a 9:16 card without adding a fourth claim? That is a stills eval. It is not Friday’s master.

FAQ

Does Ideogram 4.5 in Runway MCP generate video? Not on the public changelog. The 2 October line says image generation in MCP workflows. Video on that same page is a different row (Seedance 2.5 Draft Mode) and a different FAQ (ChatGPT + Runway plugin).

Is Ideogram 4.5 the same as Ideogram 4.0 in MCP? Runway has not published a 4.5 feature list on the changelog beyond “now supported.” The last specified Ideogram MCP behavior is 13 August 2026: ideogram-4, text-to-image or one-reference remix, readable type, 9:21 and 21:9. Treat extra 4.5 claims as not officially confirmed until Runway or Ideogram say so on a product page.

Can I animate the Ideogram still inside the same MCP chat? You can spend more credits on a video model in the same host. That is a second desk. Runway’s ChatGPT FAQ names Gen-4.5, Seedance 2.5, Kling 3.0, and Veo 3.1 for clips. It does not name Ideogram as a clip model. Lock the still first.

Why not just use Seedance 2.5 Draft Mode? Draft Mode is a 480p generate pass with enhancement after. It is cheaper iteration, not a locked pack shot. If the bottle must match the listing, start from the listing still on image to video.

Do VEED and Kapwing collapse script and generate? No. VEED’s script generator and AI video generator are different URLs. Kapwing’s script generator and AI video generator are different URLs. Keep yours split too.
