Eleven v4 vs Script Generator: A Voice Line Is Not a Shippable Clip

Eleven v4 is TTS, not a video generator. Lock the script, then voice, then the clip — with VEED, Kapwing, and Runway Creative catalog notes.

Eleven v4 vs Script Generator: A Voice Line Is Not a Shippable Clip

Eleven v4 is a text-to-speech model. It does not lock the claim, the still, or the take. On 28 September 2026, ElevenLabs published Introducing Eleven v4, our most emotive model. The post was last updated 1 October 2026. The company is shipping Eleven v4 and a low-latency sibling, Eleven v4 Turbo, into ElevenAgents, ElevenCreative, and ElevenAPI. That is a voice desk. It is not a generate button for video. ClipCanva is not affiliated with ElevenLabs, Runway, VEED, or Kapwing. Write the spoken line on the AI script generator first. If the job is a song, draft on the AI lyrics generator. Then generate picture on the AI video generator or image to video. Do not treat “the new voice model dropped” as take one.

Launch and product facts (confirmed 1 October 2026)

Source Public claim Workflow implication
Introducing Eleven v4 (published 28 Sep 2026, updated 1 Oct 2026) Eleven v4 is “our most emotive text-to-speech model yet,” with Eleven v4 Turbo for low-latency agents. This is speech. A launch post is not a shot list.
Same ElevenLabs article ElevenLabs says v4 is ranked #1 on the Artificial Analysis Provider Voice Arena leaderboard (Sept 2026) and was preferred by ~75% of listeners in its own blind tests vs Cartesia Sonic 3.6, Inworld TTS-2, and Google Gemini 3.8 Flash / Flash-Lite TTS. Treat those as ElevenLabs’ published comparisons, not as a reason to skip a signed line.
Same ElevenLabs article Inline tags and natural-language delivery notes (example in the post: [laughs], [yawning], [sleepy drowsy voice]). IPA support improved. Full tag syntax lives in ElevenLabs TTS best practices. Tags are direction. They do not approve the claim.
Same ElevenLabs article 90+ languages. A voice recorded in one language can speak another and, ElevenLabs says, keep speaker identity while adopting a native accent. Instant Voice Clones from ~10 seconds of audio. Professional Voice Clones return after being unavailable in v3. Cloning is a voice asset. Retrain old clones if the v4 product page says you must.
Same ElevenLabs article v4 Turbo: architecture section cites ~100ms median inference latency; footnote 3 cites ~150ms median time-to-first-speech over WebSocket (Sept 2026, network latency removed). Two different published numbers. Do not mix them into a brief.
Eleven v4 product page Up to 10,000 characters per generation; context stitching for longer form. 17,500+ library voices. Instant Voice Clones in v4 “now outperform the Professional Voice Clones of Multilingual v2.” Older IVCs/PVCs need retraining. Premium plans listed from $6/mo with 30,000+ credits. Character caps and plan copy are ElevenLabs’ page, not ClipCanva pricing.
Runway Joins the OpenAI Marketplace (29 Sep 2026) Runway Creative’s named models include Gen-4.5, Seedance 2.5, GPT Image 2.5, and ElevenLabs V4. V4 sitting in a video workspace catalog still does not make V4 a video model.
VEED AI Video Script Generator Own tool. “Generate free scripts for social media videos, explainers, marketing campaigns.” Step 3: copy the script or generate video. Writer and renderer stay two clicks.
VEED AI Video Generator Generate from text, scripts, or images. Page copy includes visuals, AI voiceovers, avatars, and subtitles. A one-shot still consumes a script you have to accept.
Kapwing AI Video Script Generator Own page, separate from Video Generator. Kapwing’s AI nav also lists Text to Speech as its own item. Kapwing still splits writer, voice, and renderer.

ElevenLabs’ docs overview also splits the company into ElevenCreative (voiceovers, music, dubs, studio), ElevenAgents (conversational agents), and ElevenAPI. If you cannot say which of those three you opened, stop. You do not have a desk.

What Eleven v4 is — and what it is not

Operators will collapse four objects into “the new Eleven model will make the restock ad.” The public pages refuse that.

Surface What the public page says it does What it does not do Fail condition
Eleven v4 Read a signed script with tone, pacing, emotion, character, and context Invent the legal line; pick the pack shot; cut the scene Dumping “make it urgent” with no card
Eleven v4 Turbo Same family, tuned for agents; ElevenLabs publishes sub-200ms first-speech figures Replace a campaign VO session; prove the medical claim Briefing Turbo as the Friday master
ElevenCreative Browser studio for voiceovers, music, dubs Sign packaging copy; generate the hero still Opening Creative because Runway listed “ElevenLabs V4” next to Gen-4.5
Runway Creative catalog A workspace that names ElevenLabs V4 beside video and image models Turn V4 into a text-to-video model Prompting “restock cinematic” at a voice slot
VEED Script Generator Draft, then copy or generate Sign claims at the prompt box Hitting generate on an unsigned slogan
Kapwing Script Generator + TTS Script on one tool; voiceover on another Render the scene Dumping the draft into Video Generator because both sit under “AI”

If a model is speaking, you are on a voice desk. If a model is rendering pixels, you are on a generate desk. If the file still needs a legal line, you are on a writer. If you cannot tell which, do not spend.

Pick the desk before you open v4

The fail is treating “Eleven v4 launched” as “the campaign is covered.” Map the job.

Job Where it actually runs What you must supply What the system may invent Fail condition
Legal line, spoken words, on-screen claim AI script generator — or VEED / Kapwing if that is already your writer Audience, one claim, duration, forbidden words Extra superlatives, a second CTA, a laugh tag you did not ask for “v4 restock ad” with no card
Delivery notes ([warm], [laughs], IPA) Eleven v4 after the line is signed; syntax in TTS best practices The exact words, plus one delivery instruction Extra audio events, a second speaker Directing emotion before the sentence exists
Song / hook copy AI lyrics generator, then voice — v4 is not a lyrics model Meter, forbidden claims, language A chorus that restates a drug or performance claim Feeding v4 “write a jingle”
Still that must stay on-model Stills desk, then image to video Approved pack shot as frame one Camera path, warped type, extra logos Asking any catalog that lists V4 to “invent the bottle”
Motion from a locked still or a named video model AI video generator or a named model on Compare Locked still and/or locked caption, crop, seconds Extra props, a second spoken line Hopping models because Runway named four of them in one post
Long recording → short spoken plan AI video summarizer, then script, then v4 Source cut, claims you will keep Compression that changes meaning Asking v4 to “just recap the webinar”
Agent / phone / in-game voice Eleven v4 Turbo + ElevenAgents, if that is actually the product Policy, pronunciation list, latency budget Warmth that sounds like a medical promise Shipping Turbo audio as the YouTube master

If the brief is “try the new Eleven model,” that is R&D. If the brief is “the two-pack restocks Friday,” that is script, then voice, then picture. If the brief is “v4 will handle it,” you do not have a brief.

v4 vs Turbo vs VEED vs Kapwing vs a clip desk

Dimension Eleven v4 Eleven v4 Turbo VEED Kapwing
Official surface Blog; product Same two pages AI Video Generator; Script Generator AI Video Generator; Script Generator
What they sell on the page Expressive TTS, tags, cloning, 90+ languages, long-form stitching Low-latency agents; ElevenLabs publishes ~100ms / ~150ms figures Generate from text, scripts, or images; voiceovers live on the video page Free to start in the browser. Script, Text to Speech, and Video Generator are separate tools
Script desk None. You bring the line. None. Agents still need copy. Script Generator is a different nav item Script is a different tool from Video Generator
Voice desk Yes. This is the product. Yes, for agents. Voiceover is bundled on the generate page TTS is its own AI nav item
What not to use it for Proof the restock exists; a video model; skipping legal Proof Turbo is the campaign VO; mixing the two latency numbers Proof that “generate video” signed the line Proof that TTS wrote the legal line

Kapwing’s public IA still splits script, TTS, and video. VEED’s generate page still sells completeness; its nav still keeps AI Video Script Generator as its own item. ElevenLabs’ v4 pages sell speech. Runway’s 29 September post only names ElevenLabs V4 inside Creative. None of those pages say a voice model is a clip.

Creator / operator checklist

  1. Separate the voice model from the take. If someone forwarded the 28 September ElevenLabs post (updated today), that is a voice conversation. It is not a shot list.
  2. Write the one line the clip must carry. v4 cannot rescue a sentence legal will strike. Use the AI script generator. Strike “#1,” ingredient claims, and competitor names you cannot defend.
  3. Lock delivery after the words. One tag or one natural-language note. Do not stack [urgent][warm][laughs] on an unsigned slogan. Read Prompting Eleven v4 before you invent SSML: ElevenLabs says v4 does not support SSML break tags.
  4. Pick v4 or Turbo on purpose. Campaign VO, audiobook, dub, ad: v4. Live agent: Turbo. If you need both, you have two jobs.
  5. Retrain clones if the product page says so. Instant clones from ~10 seconds are a v4 claim. Older IVCs/PVCs may need a v4 retrain. Do not assume last quarter’s clone survived.
  6. Stay inside the published character cap. The v4 page lists 10,000 characters per generation and stitching for longer form. A webinar dump is a summarizer job first.
  7. Lock the still before anyone opens a video catalog. If the bottle was shot, you are in image to video from that frame — not in “let Gen-4.5 invent a label because Creative also lists ElevenLabs V4.”
  8. Keep a scene card. Steal shot language from prompt ideas, then generate one scene. Do not dump a paragraph into VEED generate or Kapwing Video Generator because the page mentioned voiceover.
  9. If the job is a song, write lyrics on the AI lyrics generator. v4 will speak or sing only what you give it. It will not write the chorus.
  10. Name the video model separately. Compare video models on Compare. If a duration or resolution is not on that vendor page, it is not a brief.

Worked example: a Friday restock that does not start in v4

Say the job is a restock cutdown. The two-pack ships Friday. Legal line approved: Same bottle. Same seal. Restock Friday. The hero still exists. Someone saw ElevenLabs’ 28 September post, noticed the 1 October update, and told the channel “v4 can sell this.”

Do this order:

  1. Keep the signed line. Do not let v4 add “limited,” “best,” or a laugh.
  2. Generate the VO in Eleven v4 (not Turbo) with one delivery note, for example [calm, close-mic]. Check the file against the card.
  3. If you need another language, that is a second signed card, then a second v4 pass. ElevenLabs’ 90+ language claim is not a license to improvise claims.
  4. Drive image to video from the approved still. One camera move. No extra pack on the table.
  5. Lay the VO under the clip. If lip-sync matters, that is a picture problem, not a reason to regenerate the sentence.
  6. If someone wants this on Runway Creative because the Marketplace post listed ElevenLabs V4 next to Gen-4.5, they are holding a catalog. They are not holding a cut.

If any step is missing, you do not have a restock. You have a demo.

FAQ

Is Eleven v4 an AI video generator? No. ElevenLabs’ launch post and product page describe text-to-speech (and Turbo for agents). Video still needs a video model and a locked still or prompt. Start picture on the AI video generator or image to video.

Did Runway turning on ElevenLabs V4 mean ChatGPT can render the ad? No. Runway’s 29 September Marketplace post names ElevenLabs V4 inside Runway Creative. That is a catalog entry. It is not OpenAI shipping a first-party video model, and it is not a signed script.

Should I use Eleven v4 or v4 Turbo for YouTube voiceover? ElevenLabs positions v4 for expressive content (ads, audiobooks, dubbing) and Turbo for low-latency agents. For a restock VO, use v4 unless your actual product is an agent.

Can I paste SSML pauses into v4? ElevenLabs’ TTS best practices say Eleven v4 and Eleven v3 do not support SSML break tags. Use the v4 prompting / tag workflow they document instead.

Where do I write the line if I am not opening ElevenLabs today? On the AI script generator. VEED and Kapwing also keep a script tool separate from generate. The vendor can change. The order of operations should not.

A voice model that can laugh on command is still a voice model. Lock the sentence. Lock the still. Then generate the clip.
