Canva ProSuite vs Visual Suite vs 8-Second Clip Desk: Affinity and Cavalry Are Not a Generate Button
Canva ProSuite (16 Sep 2026) groups Affinity, Cavalry, Flourish, and Leonardo. That is a craft stack, not Canva AI's 8-second video clip. Pick the desk before you generate.
Canva ProSuite vs Visual Suite vs 8-Second Clip Desk: Affinity and Cavalry Are Not a Generate Button
ProSuite is a craft stack. Visual Suite is the workplace layer. Canva AI Video clip is still six or eight seconds. On 16 September 2026, Canva’s newsroom listed Craft, upgraded: introducing the Canva ProSuite — Affinity, Cavalry, Flourish, and Leonardo coming together as one connected suite for professional creatives. That is not a script-to-video model, and it is not a replacement for an 8-second clip desk. ClipCanva is not affiliated with Canva, Affinity, Cavalry, Leonardo, Flourish, VEED, or Adobe. If you export a RAW still from Affinity 3.3, or a motion pass from Cavalry, and paste the filename into a clip generator, the model will invent a second product, warp the type, or talk past the cut. Lock the line on the AI script generator, lock the still, then generate on the AI video generator or image to video.
Launch facts (confirmed 17 September 2026)
| Source | Public claim | Workflow implication |
|---|---|---|
| Canva Newsroom listing | 16 Sep 2026. Craft, upgraded: introducing the Canva ProSuite. Affinity, Cavalry, Flourish, and Leonardo “coming together as one connected suite.” | Treat ProSuite as a named stack, not a single generate button. Confirm which app actually opened. |
| heise online | ProSuite connects Affinity, Cavalry, Flourish, and Leonardo with Canva. Visual Suite remains a separate workplace layer (Docs, Sheets, Whiteboards, video/photo editor, websites, Canva Code). Updates available for Windows and macOS. | Do not ask Visual Suite Docs to finish a clip, or ask ProSuite Affinity to write the VO. |
| Same heise report | InDesign import; Capture One and DaVinci Resolve support named. Affinity data can connect to Canva Sheets. Affinity documents should open in Cavalry in the future. Selected Cavalry parts (text, colors) should become editable inside Canva. | Future-tense handoffs are not live buttons. Export the file you can reopen today. |
| PetaPixel: Affinity 3.3 | Affinity stays free. 3.3 improves RAW develop, hue-preserving curves, and adds an Astrophotography Studio. Some AI features need a premium Canva subscription. Canva Pro cited at $144/year or $18/month. | A free stills desk is not unlimited generative video. Check the live plan gate before you promise AI upscale. |
| CG Channel: Affinity 3.3 / ProSuite | Affinity 3.3 adds 60+ features (Mask, Deform, Blend, Scripting Studio). Paid Canva access unlocks local and cloud AI (upscaling, automatic matte, SDR-to-HDR). ProSuite is mainly branding for now: apps still download and run separately. Affinity and Cavalry remain free. | Do not wait for a merged timeline. Finish the still in Affinity, the motion in Cavalry, the clip on a clip desk. |
| Canva Help: Create a video clip | Canva AI Video clip: 8-second videos with audio, 6-second videos without. English prompts only. Optional reference image. You cannot manually change in-clip audio. Separate from Magic Media. | An 8-second desk cannot swallow a Cavalry scene or an Affinity layout. Split first. |
| Canva Business: Leonardo.Ai | Canva Business / Enterprise unlocks the Leonardo.Ai Essential plan. Some Canva image tools are already powered by Leonardo. Essential adds a wider set of image and video models than native Canva. | Leonardo is a model farm, not Canva AI Video clip. Sign in on the plan that actually grants Essential. |
| VEED: Script to Video | Describe the video type, customize aspect / presenter / subtitles, then type a script or generate one, then export. Positions training, walkthroughs, and tutorials as the job. | VEED is an assembly-from-script desk. It still needs a script you accept. |
Confirm the live generator before you quote seconds, plan names, or “open this Affinity file in Cavalry.” Canva’s newsroom listing is dated 16 September 2026; the full article URL was not reliably readable at publish time, so this page does not invent body copy. Heise’s future-tense Cavalry handoff is not officially confirmed as shipping today. Do not invent a “ProSuite to clip” button.
What ProSuite is — and what it is not
| Surface | What is actually on the public record | What operators often assume | Fail condition |
|---|---|---|---|
| Canva ProSuite | A named group: Affinity (stills / vector / layout), Cavalry (2D motion), Flourish (data viz), Leonardo (generative models), sitting next to Canva | One app that writes the script, generates the clip, and grades the master | Dumping a ProSuite export into an 8-second prompt |
| Affinity 3.3 | Free craft desk. RAW, masks, blend, scripting. Some AI behind a Canva paid gate | Unlimited text-to-video | Asking Affinity to invent a spoken line |
| Cavalry | Professional motion / animation app Canva acquired; still a separate download | An 8-second social generator | Rendering a 12-second motion pass and calling it a Reels cut |
| Leonardo.Ai Essential | Extra image and video models for Canva Business / Enterprise | The same desk as Canva AI Video clip | Generating on Leonardo, then regenerating the same shot on the 8-second clip desk “to make it Canva” |
| Flourish | Interactive charts for Docs / Presentations / social | A product-ad generator | Animating a chart screenshot until the axis labels melt |
| Visual Suite | Workplace layer: Docs, Sheets, Whiteboards, video/photo editor, websites | The same thing as ProSuite | Writing the campaign in Docs and never locking a shot |
| Canva AI Video clip | 8s with audio / 6s silent, English prompt, optional still | A place to dump the Affinity file name | One paragraph, one generate, unreadable type |
The useful split is the same one Canva’s own help already documents for clips: Video clip waits, then hands you six or eight seconds. Magic Media text-to-video sits inside a design. Neither one is Affinity, and neither one is Cavalry. Canva’s February 2026 Cavalry note already said the intended path: craft in the precision tool, then move the asset into Canva to collaborate and distribute. ProSuite names that stack. It does not collapse the desks.
Pick the desk before you generate
The fail is treating “make it in Canva” as one button. VEED’s script-to-video page still splits describe → customize → script → generate. Canva’s clip help still splits English prompt + optional still → 6 or 8 seconds. Affinity 3.3 still splits develop the still. Cavalry still splits motion. Those are four jobs.
| Job | Where it actually runs | What you must supply | What the system may invent | Fail condition |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Print-grade still, pack shot, readable type | Affinity 3.3 | Locked crop, type, color, what must stay sharp | Extra props if you later prompt a clip model from a compressed export | Generating motion from a 72dpi screenshot |
| 2D motion, kinetic type, branded loops | Cavalry | Duration, what is allowed to move, what must stay on-model | Extra bounces, a second logo pass | Shipping a 15-second motion study as a 6-second silent clip |
| Chart that must stay true | Flourish, then a still you export | The numbers, the axis, the claim | Decorative 3D that fights the data | Asking a clip model to “make the chart cinematic” |
| Extra generative stills / video models | Leonardo.Ai Essential (plan-gated) | The same locked still or prompt you would defend on any other farm | A second wardrobe, a second SKU | Treating Essential as unlimited native Canva video |
| Legal line, claim, spoken words | AI script generator | Audience, one claim, duration, forbidden words | Extra steps, unearned superlatives | Prompting video from a Docs outline you never signed |
| 6–8 second campaign or social clip | AI video generator or Canva AI Video clip | Locked still and/or locked caption, crop, seconds | Extra props, a second spoken line | One generate because “it is all Canva now” |
| Still that must hold, then move | Image to video | First frame you chose at a readable resolution | Camera path, warped glyphs | Animating a Cavalry poster frame that still has temp type |
| Reusable camera language | Prompt ideas | Shot type, lighting, camera, duration | A chat you will lose when the ProSuite app changes | Changing five variables on every retry |
| Model choice when the first desk warps the label | ClipCanva Compare | The same still and the same caption | A new story | Starting over because ProSuite “feels more official” |
If the brief is “this pack shot already exists in Affinity; make it move 8 seconds,” that is image-to-video from a locked still. If the brief is “we do not know the three beats yet,” that is script. If the brief is “keep the logo, change only the camera,” that is one-variable control. Name the desk before you open a tab.
ProSuite vs Visual Suite vs clip desk vs script-to-video
| Dimension | Canva ProSuite | Visual Suite | Clip desk (Canva-class) | Script-to-video assembly (VEED-class) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Official surface | Newsroom: Affinity + Cavalry + Flourish + Leonardo | Docs, Sheets, Whiteboards, editor, sites | Canva AI Video clip | VEED Script to Video |
| Input | App-native files (photo, vector, motion, chart, gen models) | Workplace docs and boards | English prompt; optional still | Video type + script you type or generate |
| Documented length | Whatever the craft app exports | Whatever the doc or editor holds | 8s with audio / 6s silent | Whatever runtime you accept after generate |
| Visual job | Precision stills, motion, charts, extra models | Layout, writing, collaboration | Short generated clip | Stock / generated / uploaded footage around a script |
| Audio | Not the clip desk’s job | Not a native-audio generator | Optional; you cannot manually change in-clip audio on Canva’s clip desk | Voiceover you chose in customize |
| Do not use it for | Writing the claim | Finishing the 8-second cut | Writing the plot | Inventing a product that was never sourced |
Leonardo’s Canva Business page is a useful third map, not a partnership. Native Canva image tools can already sit on Leonardo models. Essential is the wider farm — including video models Canva does not ship in the 8-second homepage clip. If your operator needs a named video model with a first frame, that is ClipCanva’s image to video or the AI video generator, not “ProSuite.”
Workflow: craft the still, sign the line, then cut to clips
Write the packet once. Generate on a desk that matches the seconds you will actually publish.
- Name the stack, then name the file. ProSuite is four apps plus Canva. Open Affinity for the still, Cavalry for motion, Flourish for the chart, Leonardo only if the plan actually includes Essential. Do not start in Canva AI Video clip “because the newsroom said connected.”
- Finish the still at a resolution you can read. Affinity 3.3 is the RAW and type desk. Export a clean frame. If type must stay legal, do not downsample it into a chat screenshot.
- Keep Cavalry motion on a motion desk. If heise’s Canva-side text/color edit is not in your build today, export the clip you can reopen in Cavalry. A 12-second loop is a source cut, not a Reels cut.
- Rewrite the blueprint on a script desk. On the AI script generator, lock audience, one claim, close, duration, and forbidden words. A Docs outline and a Flourish caption are drafts. They are not a signed line.
- Split to the next desk’s cap. Canva’s clip desk is 8 seconds with audio or 6 without. A Cavalry scene is several cards, not one overloaded caption. Park reusable camera language in prompt ideas.
- Lock a still before motion when type or SKU matters. Send that still to image to video. If there is no still, generate on the AI video generator only after the caption is a shot.
- If you already have a long cut or a Resolve timeline, respect it. Heise names DaVinci Resolve as a supported connection, not as a generate button. For a lecture or an older explainer, run the file through the AI video summarizer so the new script matches what was on screen.
- Compare models when the first desk warps the label. Use ClipCanva Compare. Do not start a new story in Leonardo because Affinity’s paid AI matte looked different. “Feels like ProSuite” is not an acceptance test. Readable type is.
Operator card you can paste:
Job: craft still / motion in ProSuite apps, then 6–8s clips
Still desk: Affinity 3.3 (free; some AI behind Canva paid)
Motion desk: Cavalry (separate app; do not assume live Canva-side edits)
Chart desk: Flourish → exported still
Extra models: Leonardo.Ai Essential only if the Canva plan grants it
Clip desk: 8s with audio / 6s silent (Canva AI Video clip) or ClipCanva generate
Signed line: one claim, duration, forbidden words
Do not: dump the Affinity filename into the clip prompt
Creator / operator checklist
- [ ] You can name which ProSuite app produced the file (Affinity, Cavalry, Flourish, Leonardo) without saying “Canva.”
- [ ] Visual Suite Docs / Sheets are research or layout, not the VO.
- [ ] Affinity export is sharp enough that on-pack type is readable at 1080p.
- [ ] Cavalry duration is written down. If it is longer than 8 seconds, you already split cards.
- [ ] Flourish numbers match the signed claim. No “cinematic chart” prompt.
- [ ] Leonardo Essential is confirmed on the live Canva Business / Enterprise account, or you skip it.
- [ ] Canva AI Video clip is treated as 8s with audio / 6s silent, English prompt, optional still.
- [ ] In-clip audio on that desk is not something you plan to rewrite by hand.
- [ ] Script is signed on a script desk before any generate.
- [ ] Image-to-video uses the Affinity still, not a newsroom thumbnail.
- [ ] Future heise handoffs (Affinity → Cavalry, Cavalry text in Canva) are marked not confirmed live until you see them in the app.
- [ ] No claim that ClipCanva, Canva, Leonardo, or VEED are the same product.
FAQ
Is Canva ProSuite an AI video generator? No. Canva’s 16 September 2026 newsroom listing groups Affinity, Cavalry, Flourish, and Leonardo as a connected professional suite. The 8-second / 6-second generator is a different Canva AI Video clip desk, documented in Canva Help.
Did Canva merge Affinity and Cavalry into one download? Not on the public record used here. CG Channel reports the apps still download and run separately, and that ProSuite is mainly branding for now. Treat each app as its own desk until your installer says otherwise.
Does Affinity 3.3 stay free? PetaPixel and CG Channel both say Affinity remains free. Some AI features sit behind a premium Canva subscription. Confirm the live gate; do not promise cloud upscale on a free seat.
Can I open an Affinity file in Cavalry or edit Cavalry text inside Canva today? heise describes those as intended connections, not as a confirmed ship date in the copy we have. If your build cannot open the file, export a still or a rendered clip and keep working. Do not plan a deadline on a handoff you have not clicked.
Where should a product-ad clip actually get generated? Sign the line on the AI script generator, lock the Affinity still, then generate on the AI video generator or image to video. Canva AI Video clip is a valid 6/8-second desk. VEED is a valid assembly desk. None of them replace the still.
ProSuite is a useful label: craft in the precision app, collaborate in Canva, generate the social cut on a clip desk that publishes the seconds you actually need. The newsroom did not give you one button. Do not pretend it did.
